Container orchestration automates the deployment, scaling, networking, and lifecycle management of containerized applications across clusters of machines. Orchestrators schedule containers onto available nodes, handle health checks and restarts, manage service discovery, and distribute load.

Kubernetes is the dominant orchestration platform, with Docker Swarm and Nomad serving niche use cases.
