Kill Chain

Cyber Kill Chain

Definition

The Cyber Kill Chain, developed by Lockheed Martin, models an adversary's attack sequence across seven stages: Reconnaissance, Weaponization, Delivery, Exploitation, Installation, Command and Control, and Actions on Objectives. Defenders use it to identify where in the chain they can detect or disrupt an attack.

Interrupting an attack at any stage prevents the adversary from achieving their final objective.
