Prompt engineering

Prompt engineering is the practice of designing and optimizing input prompts to elicit desired behaviors from language models without modifying model weights. Techniques include chain-of-thought, few-shot examples, role assignment, output format constraints, and task decomposition.

As model capabilities have grown, the boundary between prompt engineering and AI product design has blurred.
