AWS Shield is Amazon's managed DDoS protection service with two tiers. Shield Standard is included for all AWS customers and provides automatic protection against common network and transport-layer attacks.

Shield Advanced is a paid service offering enhanced detection and mitigation of sophisticated application-layer attacks, integration with WAF for automated rule creation, cost protection against scaling charges during attacks, and access to the AWS DDoS Response Team.
